LOSAR click

with chimmi and rajni (losar)

The losar has always been one of the big events that i have celebrated since childhood. Thanks to Bhutanese student association Durgapur for such delicious dinner at mahahe -h-Punjab . To mark the day in our own little way, we went to the restaurant and had some singing, dancing items followed by the grand dinner.

To our small family members, I was urged to brief up the significance of Bhutanese New Year. Every one was Bhutanese of course and each one of us knows how it is important for Bhutanese society. Still then as a formality i delivered a short welcome speech, packing up history in brief.
First date( tshe chi/tshe thur) of first month( daw dangpa) of every year is losar(new year). The significance is just like people celebrating january first every year. bhutan has close link with tibet in history and losar is no different. Since then every tshe chi of daw dangpa is a New Year celebration. In bhutan many festivals like nganpa guzum, chun nyi pa, thrue bab are called losar but it don't mean new year. losar is for the public meaning often known as celebration
