Voucher Tax

Being Taxed is one thing and freeing the tax is bit an another thing. Developed country have the economy significantly depending on taxes and how would it help in Bhutan? When citizens are able to pay tax, it means the country people are rich enough. So why should we discuss about the 5% tax that is levied on vouchers? I am not sure if we are taxed on data packages.

Tax sometimes holistically should be understood as the deterrent matter towards the misuse of the limited resources by the public. Tax would encourage productive and efficient use of the resources.

Having said this, it would also serve a better purpose if we have tax slab scheme which would remove the taxation to basic usage and taxing substantially to the higher level of consumption. It may be looked below as an example.

Per Month Usage

Nu 0 to Nu 500 -0% Tax
Nu 501-1000-5% Tax
Nu 1001-3000-10% Tax
And should go on.

This is just an example and we can research to establish the exact slab we may come up.  The government's view of narrowing the Gap shall suitably fit in if this would be the case in regard to the voucher Tax.  Because a person consuming a drop and bunch certainly can't be labelled equal.
